"You may recall that in March we reported that former Bury Your Dead guitarist Eric Ellis was on trial in Florida for violating federal racketeering laws. Well, Ellis and four members of a gang he was associated with, dubbed the "Guardians," have now been sentenced, and it doesn't appear that Ellis will be seeing the light of day anytime soon.
Last week a federal judge in Jacksonville sentenced Ellis, 28 years-old, to 20 years in federal prison for conspiracy and violation of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act.
The gang, headed by Maynard Kenneth Godwin of Jacksonville, was reportedly involved in robberies, home invasions, thefts, etc. that resulted in losses of nearly $2 million to their victims"
