ANDLAT Bio:

Andlát began in a small garage in Iceland in the fall of 2000 when five guys decided to get off their ass and form a band. After a short time they had written a few songs, played alot of shows and released a demo called Salt in January 2001 which was soon sold out. In March 2001 the band decided to take part in the national battle of the bands contest which they won. After the competition Andlát got a lot of media attention and appeared in every major newspaper and TV show in the country. In the fall of 2001 Ingi the lead guitarist decided to leave the band to focus on his two other bands I adapt and SnaFu. Valur the drummer switched over to his favored instrument, the guitar and Magnús Örn was recruited as a drummer, this proved to be a very good change and soon Andlát started at full blast again playing every show they could which were quite a few, at festivals like the Icelandic Airwaves and with bands like Heaven Shall Burn and Stretch Arm Strong to name a few. Andlát is an Icelandic word meaning deceased, a name the band got stuck with at the first rehearsal when someone said that their music sounded like deathmetal. Partly they were right; Andlát plays some kind of a blend between metal and hardcore with screeching vocals and are unique for their slow, doomy guitars with powerfull riffs.
