schon seit Wochen...eigentlich Monaten sind die Regale in den Supermärkten voller Lebkuchen, die Uhren wurden zwischenzeitlich auf Winterzeit gestellt - untrügliche Zeichen dafür, dass das Jahr bald wieder zu Ende geht.
Höchste Zeit für Dich, jetzt noch schnell die Weichen für einen erfolgreichen Jahresendspurt zu stellen. Vielleicht haben wir die passenden Tonträgerperlen für Dich parat?
Zum Monatswechsel gibt es mal wieder den NEWSLETTER mit zusätzlich und dezent platzierten Highlights.
Für dieses Update sind gleich drei riesige US-Lieferungen (hm...dürfte der bisher größte von uns bestellte Warenwert sein) und zig Pakete aus Deutschen Landen eingetroffen - CONVERGE, RISE & FALL, CLOAK/DAGGER, IRON LUNG..., SLAYER, SUNN O))) und der Re-Stock von KAOSPILOT, THE BOMB, THORR'S HAMMER, EAGLE TWIN usw. sind (wieder) in ausreichender Stückzahlen vorhanden...also KEINE PANIK!
DANKE nochmals für die Bestellflut, die (auch dank der UNION OF SLEEP LP) in den letzten 3-4 Wochen auf uns niederprasselte; wir sind fleissig am abtragen der restlichen Bestellungen, die seit ca. einer Woche hier bei uns vorliegen. Diese gehen dank der Re-Stock Lieferungen noch vor dem kommendem Wochenende raus!
Ab kommender Woche ist dann auch die PATSY O' HARA LP-Nachpressung (allesamt im blauen Vinyl) erhältlich. Für die BLACKWAVES LP warte ich nur noch auf das Artwork, das ich von der Band erhalte - dann kann die Scheibe auch in ausreichender Stückzahl übern Thresen gehen!

ABRAXIS - s/t (2009/FREQUENCE DELETED) MCD 8,- €
HARDCORE. ABRAXIS have taken the cleveland sound and "holy terror" ideal and moved it to their home country of Australia to create a sound and style closely comparable to bands like RINGWORM, INTEGRITY and IN COLD BLOOD with more of the dark imagery associated with those above mentioned bands.
BEHEMOTH - the apostasy (2009/BACK ON BLACK) LP 16,- €
DEATH-METAL. The Polish metal kings offering, "the apostasy", which is destined to become both the defining release of the band's career and one of the most revered and dynamic offerings the genre has seen in years. BEHEMOTH take their influences further, while keeping their distorted assault intact. Unrelenting distortion and illustration of these aforementioned gods is what gives a plausible identity to each of these songs. The tone of the album is eerie, but adding more leads and heavier riffs wouldn't be depleting any of the sentimental aspects of this album. Ultimately, anti-christianity is inscribed between the lines.
CHRIST ON PARADE - sounds of nature (2009/PRANK) LP 10,- €
HARDCORE-PUNK. Back in press again! This 19 track reissue collects the "sounds of nature" LP, both the band's tracks from the Thrasher Skate Rock Vol. 3 compilation, the "isn't life a dream" 7" from 1986 (all long out-of-print) and a previously unreleased AVENGERS cover. Comes beautifully packaged with the original cover art. CHRIST ON PARADE played an integral role in the scene that surrounded Gilman Street at its beginnings and Bay-Area hardcore-punk during that era. Highly recommended.
CLOAK / DAGGER - lost art (2009/JADE TREE) LP 14,50 € / CD 14,- €
HARDCORE-PUNK. Uniquely combining punk, hardcore and garage-rock, Richmond's CLOAK/DAGGER return with their 2nd full-length "lost art", which employs the guitar twang of the DRIVE LIKE JEHU, HOT SNAKES, the percussive thrust of RAMONES and bygone Boston hardcore heroes THE F.U.'s and JERRYS KIDS and a vocal delivery that is near JOHNNY THUNDERS. Vinyl version includes coupon for free MP3 download of entire album.
COLD AS LIFE - born to land hard/declination of independence (2009/EMETIC) DoCD 12,50 €
HARDCORE. Detroit's hardest, COLD AS LIFE, churned out heavy, streetwise hardcore geared towards thugs, and outcasts with songs about drugs, poverty, the tragedy of losing friends and the perils of growing up in a city on the decline. This double-disc set brings together 1997's "born to land hard" and 2000's "declination of independence", totaling 28 tracks of angry, spiteful, beatdown hardcore.
COMMON ENEMY - living the dream? (2009/DRP) LP 12,- € / CD 11,- €
THRASHCORE. The masterpiece "living the dream?" is the result of COMMON ENEMY's long time line-up and new vocalist instant writing chemistry. Producing 20 anthems about kating, partying, and politics for 2009, the band invited HELLMOUTH singer to the party to guest on the title track. Touring road miles, empty beer cans, broken decks, COMMON ENEMY started gaining a fanatical and frenzied fanbase that was finally sticking to their grip tape. Comparable to early VITAMIN X, RKL and all those early Oxnard-bands. Vinyl version includes free MP3 download with purchase.
CONVERGE - axe to fall (2009/DEATHWISH/EPITAPH) LPcol 11,- € / DigiCD 13,50 €
HARDCORE. Since forming in 1990, CONVERGE have climbed to the top of the heap of bands playing noisy, metallic hardcore, singlehandedly blazing a path that hundreds of bands would attempt to follow. True to themselves and their art, as always, no matter the cost, "axe to fall" continues to push relentlessly forward, much like a shark that needs to always keep swimming to survive. Where "no heroes" was a refinement and broadening of hostilities declared on previous assaults such as "jane doe", "axe to fall" returns to the more AmRep-inspired noisecore abrasions of "you fail me" while also updating and making vital the thrash influences that defined earlier CONVERGE efforts. "axe to fall" could be CONVERGE's most straightforward album, but refuses to dull down, with all of the same mind-blowing riffs, incredible drumming and howled vocals fans of the band have come to love.

DIE YOUNG - survival instinct (2009/SURPRISE ATTACK) 7" 5,50 €
HARDCORE. In press again. On "survival instinct" DIE YOUNG bring relentless, politically and socially-fueled hardcore with intelligent lyrics and heavy, semi-metallic hardcore in the vein of TRIAL and CATHARSIS.
HELLSHOCK - shadows of the afterworld (2009/LA FAMILIA) LP 10,- €
CRUST-HARDCORE. This is the repress of the 2nd full-length album from Portlands HELLSHOCK. It contains 8 killer tracks of crust-hardcore that sounds as if it were right out of the late '80s UK crust explosion! Powerful and dark anthems for the crust kids. This release was originally planned to come out on Feral Ward, but got released by Black Water. If you already love DEVIATED INSTINCT, AXEGRINDER, CRUCIFIX and MOTÖRHEAD, then add HELLSHOCK to your list! This repress comes in a gatefold sleeve with modified artwork and got remastered.
HELM, THE - home (2009/HEX) CD 10,- €
HARDCORE. Moving beyond the simple HIS HERO IS GONE comparisons and taking cues from fellow Northwest noisemongers KISS IT GOODBYE, this crew makes things interesting for the noise-damaged ear, yet still makes a lot of room for 2min. anthems of mistrust for a rotten world.
IRON LUNG / WALLS / PIG HEART TRANSPLANT - public humiliation (2009/IRON LUNG) LP 12,50 €
HARDCORE. This, 1st and foremost, not a split-release. Recorded live at The Vera Project in Seattle on Halloween night 2008, this was a one-time performance by all 3 bands collaborating as one super band - 6 members in total. The sounds recorded this day were deranged, devastating and truly scary. New arrangements of 3 IRON LUNG songs, 3 WALLS songs and 2 PIG HEART TRANSPLANT noise pieces. On top of that, they wrote 2 brand new songs and threw in a cover just to spice things up. This item is strictly limited to 500 copies - act fast or cry later!

POST-HARDCORE. PORTRAITS OF PAST formed around 1994 in the San Francisco and parted ways at the end of 1995. During their short-lived career, the band released a couple notable releases. In 2009, PORTRAITS OF PAST resurfaced and performed a couple shows. The band also recorded 4 new songs resulting in "cypress dust witch".
REPROACH - s/t (2009/DEEP SIX) LP 10,- €
HARDCORE. Now available as us-import. Out of press since ages the REPROACH "s/t" LP got finally repressed. The original artwork has been re-interpreted by Nabbe, the songs are still as hard. Stripped down hardcore, fans of INFEST, LACK OF INTEREST and NEGATIVE APPROACH will appreciate REPROACH...REPROACHG is just straight forward hardcore played mean and fast. This is a classic Belgian hardcore LP. As bands come and go, REPROACH was and still is what it is.

Virginia-based SALOME instead serve stripped-down stark sludge-doom and prove that it needs no more than drums, a guitar and a vitriol-filled voice to deliver nothing but pure hatred. Altogether a massive document of pain, despair and hate pressed onto vinyl.

HARDCORE. With a sound going back to heavier '90s bands like UNDERTOW, INDECISION and HARVEST, Portland's UNRESTRAINED make their debut on this 4 song 7", but mix things up with high-pitched vocals and noisy, discordant guitars.

HARDCORE-PUNK. Schizophrenic released the 1st LP in an archival series focusing on the early days of the Toronto hardcore scene. From 1980 to 1984 THE YOUNG LIONS were at the forefront of the hardcore punk scene. "from the vault" compiles tracks from the YOUNG LIONS numerous demos, taopes, unreleased and recently unearthed gems, and more. For the uninitiated THE YOUNG LIONS were an absolutely killer early Toronto band that played raw, catchy hardcore-punk in the vein of SUBHUMANS, TOXIC REASONS, early D.O.A. and STIFF LITTLE FINGERS. The 1st pressing of THE YOUNG LIONS "from the vault" LP includes a huge double sided color insert with liner notes, flyers and memorabilia, and a bonus 3 song 7".

AVANTGARDE. These days, MELT-BANANA performs some of their shows under the name MELT-BANANA LITE, and this album is a live recording of the new configuration. MELT-BANANA LITE is not the usual MELT-BANANA: there are drums and vocals, but no guitars - instead samplers and synth. MELT-BANANA LITE shows another face of MELT-BANANA, with more flexible, concentrated and free minds.
MURDER BY DEATH - finch (2009/TENT SHOW) CD 13,- €
POST-ROCK/INSTRUMENTAL. This CD is an instrumental soundtrack to a book called "finch" by science fiction/fantasy/horror author Jeff Vandermeer, with each song attempting to recreate a scene or mood from the book. The band used a lot of techniques on this recording they had not tried before, including a return from their former pianist.

POST-ROCK/INSTRUMENTAL. Summit of the 2 German masters of instrumental post-rock from North of Bavaria. OMEGA MASSIF do their well-known monumental heavy post-rock that lets the listener feel like watching an avalanche during the sunset in a lonely valley in the Alps. MOUNT LOGAN, despite their name, sound more urban with their dissonant chaotic now wave sound that feels like being stuck in a traffic jam after having drunk 20 cups of strong coffee.
SUNN O))) - monoliths & dimensions (2009/SOUTHERN LORD) DoLP 28,50 €
DRONE/NOISE-ROCK. SUNN O))) is proud to present their 7th studio album, after 10 years of existence, entitled "monoliths & dimensions". The album is not SUNN O))) with strings or metal meets orchestra material. The band took an approach concentrating on more of allusion toward the timbre of feedback and the instruments involved, so the piece is really illusory, beautiful and not entirely linear, stating that the end product is the most musical piece they've done, and also the heaviest, powerful and most abstract set of chords they've laid to tape. The albums jacket is a heavy-weight cardboard tip-on style that contains 2 printed inner-sleeves and a fold out poster. This jacket is then encased by a printed velum dust jacket that resembles a dust jacket you would find on a hardcover book.

POST-PUNK. THis is a collection of THE ESTRANGED's 1st recording sessions at Type Foundry Studios in Portland. The LP contains 8 songs, all released as 7" tracks ("s/t", "sacred decay", "entranced", "pdx" compilation and split 7" with AUTISTIC YOUTH). Most of which are now out-of-print showcase the band's distinct style of omnimous, dark punk at their rawest and most urgent.

HARDCORE. ABRAXIS have taken the cleveland sound and "holy terror" ideal and moved it to their home country of Australia to create a sound and style closely comparable to bands like RINGWORM, INTEGRITY and IN COLD BLOOD with more of the dark imagery associated with those above mentioned bands.
BEHEMOTH - the apostasy (2009/BACK ON BLACK) LP 16,- €
DEATH-METAL. The Polish metal kings offering, "the apostasy", which is destined to become both the defining release of the band's career and one of the most revered and dynamic offerings the genre has seen in years. BEHEMOTH take their influences further, while keeping their distorted assault intact. Unrelenting distortion and illustration of these aforementioned gods is what gives a plausible identity to each of these songs. The tone of the album is eerie, but adding more leads and heavier riffs wouldn't be depleting any of the sentimental aspects of this album. Ultimately, anti-christianity is inscribed between the lines.

HARDCORE-PUNK. Back in press again! This 19 track reissue collects the "sounds of nature" LP, both the band's tracks from the Thrasher Skate Rock Vol. 3 compilation, the "isn't life a dream" 7" from 1986 (all long out-of-print) and a previously unreleased AVENGERS cover. Comes beautifully packaged with the original cover art. CHRIST ON PARADE played an integral role in the scene that surrounded Gilman Street at its beginnings and Bay-Area hardcore-punk during that era. Highly recommended.

Detroit's hardest, COLD AS LIFE, churned out heavy, streetwise hardcore geared towards thugs, and outcasts with songs about drugs, poverty, the tragedy of losing friends and the perils of growing up in a city on the decline. This double-disc set brings together 1997's "born to land hard" and 2000's "declination of independence", totaling 28 tracks of angry, spiteful, beatdown hardcore.

THRASHCORE. The masterpiece "living the dream?" is the result of COMMON ENEMY's long time line-up and new vocalist instant writing chemistry. Producing 20 anthems about kating, partying, and politics for 2009, the band invited HELLMOUTH singer to the party to guest on the title track. Touring road miles, empty beer cans, broken decks, COMMON ENEMY started gaining a fanatical and frenzied fanbase that was finally sticking to their grip tape. Comparable to early VITAMIN X, RKL and all those early Oxnard-bands. Vinyl version includes free MP3 download with purchase.

HARDCORE. Since forming in 1990, CONVERGE have climbed to the top of the heap of bands playing noisy, metallic hardcore, singlehandedly blazing a path that hundreds of bands would attempt to follow. True to themselves and their art, as always, no matter the cost, "axe to fall" continues to push relentlessly forward, much like a shark that needs to always keep swimming to survive. Where "no heroes" was a refinement and broadening of hostilities declared on previous assaults such as "jane doe", "axe to fall" returns to the more AmRep-inspired noisecore abrasions of "you fail me" while also updating and making vital the thrash influences that defined earlier CONVERGE efforts. "axe to fall" could be CONVERGE's most straightforward album, but refuses to dull down, with all of the same mind-blowing riffs, incredible drumming and howled vocals fans of the band have come to love.

Recorded live at The Vera Project in Seattle on Halloween night 2008, this was a one-time performance by all 3 bands collaborating as one super band - 6 members in total. MOUNT LOGAN, despite their name, sound more urban with their dissonant chaotic now wave sound that feels like being stuck in a traffic jam after having drunk 20 cups of strong coffee.

DRONE/NOISE-ROCK. SUNN O))) is proud to present their 7th studio album, after 10 years of existence, entitled "monoliths & dimensions". The album is not SUNN O))) with strings or metal meets orchestra material. The band took an approach concentrating on more of allusion toward the timbre of feedback and the instruments involved, so the piece is really illusory, beautiful and not entirely linear, stating that the end product is the most musical piece they've done, and also the heaviest, powerful and most abstract set of chords they've laid to tape. The albums jacket is a heavy-weight cardboard tip-on style that contains 2 printed inner-sleeves and a fold out poster. This jacket is then encased by a printed velum dust jacket that resembles a dust jacket you would find on a hardcover book.
