Have you ever heard about this side project of well respected bands like Converge and Thursday? It’s called United Nations. Wow! You gotta check this. Seriously…one of the biggest motivations at the moment for everything I do. They have a song called „The Shape Of Punk That Never Came“ which is totally matching my mood after our weekend show in Schwedt / Germany. I think I don’t have to really explain the name of the song. I guess everybody knows most revolutionary punk hardcore record „The Shape Of Punk To Come“ by band called Refused from Sweden. Well. Refused, as you may know, doesn’t exist anymore. But members of this band are active in other bands. You just go and Google it out for yourself.
But let’s go to the main point. Why I’m writing all of this? To release a huge pressure inside of me with which I was dealing with in last days. I figure out the only possible solution will be to write it down and get it finally out of my head once for all. It’s like a stone which is dragging me deep down to the darkness in ocean of hate.
We played that show and these are the simple facts:
- the promoter was dressed in nazi clothing brand which I’m not gonna „promote“ here
- we (band) said he has few seconds to undress
- he had the balls to argue with us
- we didn’t accept his arguments („das ist mein arbeit kleidung“)
- we’ve put more pressure on him, but without any violence, he got rid off the hoodie
- this is far away from an end of story…
- we confronted support bands with the whole situation
- on our big surprise they were not really into our pretty cooled down solution
- this is still far away from an end of story…….
- They start arguing with us and couldn’t understand our reasons
- The temper in the backstage was going slowly up and up…
- After 30 minutes of aimless discussion I decided to step up
- I told my very personal experience with right wing people and hoped to give this way another angle of looking at the whole problem
- My expression was arrogantly interrupted by a person in the room
- The temper was high now
- It all resulted with me spreading a beer around his face to cool him down
- This is still far away from an end of story……………….
- I realized what happened and had an nervous breakdown
- I overreacted and realized that it could have ended up with him being in hospital with smashed head from the bottle
- I started cry to release the huge pressure and another member of this band jumped up screaming that this was over the top
- Suddenly all my bandmates jumped up and it ended up with the support band leaving the backstage for whole evening
- And then…
- We decided to play the show to step up against all this shit even thou none of us had really a taste for stage
- Before this band started playing, they wanted to figure out the backline situation
- Guess who was the bassplayer and who STILL had the balls to come up to me and ask if I would be able to lend my boxes…yes, it was Mr. Arrogant beer face
…
…and I could go on. But I don’t want to. Basically we played the show for 30 people cca (the band before us had full room), packed our shit and left for good with our (well deserved) guarantee. I slept only few hours that night. I woke up having really strange dream and I asked myself: After all what happend during the WW2, after thousand words said, thousands songs written, thousands poems, movies…whatever. But most importantly milions of dead people over the centuries… We - people still didn’t get it!!! How scary is that? I would say quite normal in the mainstream society. But is this whatever you like to call it scene so rotten? Or our balls dropped off (my favorite sentence of Joker in „Dark Knight“ movie)??? I don’t know…I really don’t know… But I want to find out. And you out there?
Mikita and Men Without God
P.S.:…it has been discussed before million times. Please don’t bother wasting time on online Forums. We all are on the same boat. Let’s go out there and do something constructive!
